Click or tap on it. The apps displayed on the right side of the window run in the background, even when you’re not using them.

Notifications about new messages and incoming calls should be working even though the full app isn’t running because of the background process SkypeHost. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help.

Thanks for your feedback. Also, the background process, SkypeHost. This did not work. I checked my Task Manager and when I have Skype minimzed it shows that it is Suspended – I assume its the reason I am not getting messages and everything goes to “offline”.

When I open Skype back up into the full window it goes back to “running”. You can see the two screen shots which show that this is happening. How satisfied are you with this reply? Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site. In reply to A. User’s post on June 7, Unfortunately, that didn’t work I am having this exact same issue.

I only get messages when my Skype is fully open. When it is minimized everything goes to “offline” and I don’t get any messages or see people back online until I fully open the window. This is not functional and will not be ok in any work environment. I am on Windows I tried the work around suggested and that did not help. In reply to Irish11’s post on June 8, I’m glad I’m not the only one!

Hopefully this issue will be addressed if nobody can work out a solution. That’s exactly what happens with mine as well.
