Windows 7/8/10 – How to Join a Domain
If I install Windows 10 on a new machine and try to join the domain I can’t, the button isn’t there. I can’t join the domain while I’m installing Windows, it says I have to create an account and join later.
It turns out that you have to go and enable the local Administrator account which is disabled these days and log in with that before the button is available. I would use the Feedback app to suggest that this is not a useful setup but I’m not allowed to run that because I’m logged in as Administrator so I’m not allowed to use the computer. I really don’t understand why it has to be difficult, I’m not doing anything unusual.
Is Microsoft deliberately trying to make life difficult for Sys Admins? Is there a way to join the domain which doesn’t require so much fiddling about? You get no response from the Connect button or Join this device to a local Active Directory domain button? I just tried it and it pops up right here, but the issue might on server side.

I don’t have an answer for you but just wanted to let you know I see the same issue on my end. All other domain accounts even ones in the DA group are fine. I tried all sorts of stuff to make it work including wjndows the profile and recreating etc – still does not work that God-Mode folder is pretty useful when logged in as that account! I can confirm the same problem.
Looks like a policy issue but it is not. I tried Windows 7 in exactly the same environment and that works fine. W10 has a Start button option en also the seach option does not work.
