In this month, many of the files I have saved save normally the first time, but then when I close Word, the message of whether I want to save any changes appears despite having saved the file only seconds ago and not amended the document since , which I usually click as yes for safety purposes.
However after that I get Microsoft Error Reporting tell me that Word has crashed, and the file I have saved becomes zero bytes. From other forums with similar problems, Microsoft point out it might be a hard drive issue, but that wouldn’t explain why Excel or PowerPoint work just fine? I am not an expert in this by any means, so any clarification on what the issue may be, and how to solve it would be greatly appreciated, as I need Word for my Postgraduate study.

Hi Luuk Boorsma, I go through your post. Here are some suggestions for you: Try to recovery the files in Office for Mac.
Start your Mac under safe mode to see if the issue related to your startup disk. And check if you can repro the issue under safe mode. Are you using any add-in in Word? Try to disable them and check if the issue recurs. This site in other languages x.
